A New Fleet

Ever since the horrible losses suffered by the  U.N. Interstellar Fleet at the hands of the Fraal during the Lunar Colonies battle, Junior Senator Nuying Xia has pressed manufacturers to build bigger and better.  After the battle new models were put into production and the Department of Interstellar Transportation has announced they are preparing to unveil the new fleet.  According to Zhou Wen, Lead Planner at the D.I.T. “These new ships carry the latest in weapons, defensive and propulsion technologies.  They put ships built even as late as 10 years ago to shame.  They also have a few surprises that I’m not at liberty to discuss openly, but lets just say the Fraal, and now the T’sa, better watch their asses.”  Some are of the opinion, however, that with the upcoming unveiling of the new weapons platform being built in the Kuiper Belt these new ships will be mostly for planetary defense.  Dr. Garry Potter, Head Designer of the Athenia Platform, insists that his new weapon will “bring about the end of this war once and for all” and doubts the new fleet will play an important role at all.  Very few of us share his pessimistic views and most eagerly await the first glimpses of the new fleet of ships led by the new command ship ‘Spirit of Fire’.
