Today I had the opportunity to play with Chuck’s favorite Gen Con GM: Kent (he’s in the black shirt in the picture below). We played a d20 Modern in which we were trying to rescue a group of Boy Scouts. I played a yoga instructor. I knew when I picked her that I would likely not be the person turned to during combat. However, I expected that I would be able to play my support role a little better. Unfortunately, I rolled absolutely terribly. I could not see, hear, or find anything. Nevertheless I had a great time and will likely sign up for another one of Kent’s events in the future.
I also picked up some cheap ($1 or $2) d20 books in the dealer’s room, along with Monster Burner, Magic Burner, and Burning Empires. I am definitely going to have to play a Burning Wheel game sometime soon. At the auction store, I also picked up a book called Role Playing Mastery by Gary Gygax. I can’t imagine that it is actually any good. However, I thought it would be a nice addition to my gaming history section.
Also, the auctioneer called out Wil Wheaton for not attending Gen Con.
