Truer words have never been spoken than by John Scalzi today when, while talking about bad designs in Star Wars and add addressing the argument that Star Wars is really fantasy, not science fiction, John says:
The failure mode of science fiction is NOT “fantasy,” it is “bad science fiction.”
Amen. Star Wars is science fiction, even if the science is awful (at best).
