I love Escape Pod. They provide free short story every week. I almost always enjoy their stories. This week I listened to Escape Pod 208: An Almanac for the Alien Invaders by Merrie Haskell. I found this story utterly captivating.
Although the story essentially dealt with a small slice of the protagonist’s life, there was so [...]

By: Bryan; August 20th, 2009 · No Comments
Truer words have never been spoken than by John Scalzi today when, while talking about bad designs in Star Wars and add addressing the argument that Star Wars is really fantasy, not science fiction, John says:
The failure mode of science fiction is NOT “fantasy,” it is “bad science fiction.”

This is a great idea. At the 2009 Worldcon a photographer set up a studio to take pictures of people attending Worldcon. Check out the set here. I would love to see someone do this for GenCon.

By: Bryan; August 11th, 2009 · No Comments
A recent press release has reported that Gen Con has signed to be in Indianapolis through 2015. I have to admit that I am happy about this. I think Indy has been a great host city and I find the downtown area very convenient and welcoming. Of course, Indy gets something out of this as [...]
